Jersey Blue Badge Guide

Hi!

Are you planning a holiday or just a short break to Jersey in the Channel Islands? Why not enhance the quality of your stay with the services of professional Blue Badge Guide?

I am Hugh Gill, I have been guiding in Jersey for over ten years, and I reckon I know every nook and cranny of this beautiful 9 by 5 mile rock! I speak German and French as well as my native English, and guide groups as small as one individual to as big as a coach load! I am as happy guiding from the comfort of a car or bus as from the seat of a bicycle or while walking.

I am one of Jersey's leading Blue Badge Guides, having qualified in 1996 to join the ranks of the Guild of Registered Tourist Guides which has been representing quality guiding since its inception in the United Kingdom in Coronation Year 1953.

Let me show you the delights fo St Helier, the main town, with its Victorian markets and variety of shops, its Royal Square where the last battle on British soil took place, and its 13c Church. Maybe even a glimpse into our Royal Court and States Chamber can be arranged for special guests!

The spectacular beauty of Jersey's coastline is not to be missed. A long or short walk over the craggy north coast, where the other islands can be seen, and the breathtaking views of the west coast and the atlantic breakers - not to be missed.

The lovely Green lanes will entrance you as you pass fthrough alleyways of overhanging trees from centuries of 'branchage', and wander past fields of grazing Jersey cows and horses or early in the year, some of the finest potatoes in the world, the Jersey 'Royals'. The wild flowers are superb and the constantly changing colours delight the eye.

Jersey's heritage is to be found amongst the dolmens and in the two ancient castles, the 13thC Mont Orgeuil, and the 16th C Elizabeth Castle. There are museums too for a rainy day and lots of attractions. The Channel Islands are the last remnants of the former Norman kingdom of William the Conqueror and most of Europe's history since than has involved the islands in one wasy or another. (Some of the best maintained sections of Hitler's atlantic wall are to be found here).

Let me know when you are over and we can arrange to meet, with pleasure!
